Should I bring cash or Traveler's checks? Are ATMs available? Can I use credit cards?

There are a lot of cash machines that give out US dollars in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Battambang, and Sihanoukville. However, once you leave these areas, there is no other place with ATMs, so you are strongly advised to bring cash with you (in small notes as people may have difficulty making changes).

You should budget between $8 and $15 per meal for any additional lunches or dinners that are not included in the price of your tour.

Consider setting some money aside if you want to try some of the regional cuisine at the markets or buy some souvenirs.

In metropolitan areas, you will easily use credit cards at hotels and restaurants, but in rural areas, cash is required. Credit cards are not accepted. There is no provision for accepting travelers’ checks.
